Sustainable and humane: Prather Ranch, the trusted choice for premium beef

Sustainable & Humane

At Prather Ranch, we believe that sustainability and humane treatment of our animals are not just buzzwords, but an integral part of our values and philosophy. We are committed to regenerative agriculture practices that not only produce high-quality beef but also help to restore the natural environment. Our animals are raised on open pastures, where they graze on nutrient-rich grass and are never given any hormones or antibiotics. We believe in treating our animals with respect and care, and our team works tirelessly to ensure that they are comfortable and healthy throughout their lives. Our commitment to sustainable and humane practices extends to every aspect of our ranch, and we are proud to be leaders in the industry in this regard.

Closed Herd

Prather Ranch has gained international recognition as a trusted supplier of high-quality bovine materials, including collagen, hides, bones, blood, and other bovine xenograft materials for medical, pharmaceutical, and biological industries. The success of our products starts with a closed herd of cattle with minimal risk of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE), and is further enhanced by our commitment to quality and respect for our cattle, employees, and clients. The closed herd practice significantly reduces the Geographical BSE Risk (GBR), allowing Prather Ranch to offer safe and reliable bovine materials to our customers. As an ISO certified and GMP facility, Prather Ranch maintains strict standards in our production process to ensure the highest quality and safety of our products.

Prather Ranch Beef

Prather Ranch’s philosophy of sustainable and humane practices extends to our premium beef product as well. Our beef is not only certified organic and certified humane, it is also dry-aged for a minimum of 14-21 days in our processing facility. Dry-aging concentrates the flavor of the meat and makes it more tender, resulting in the ultimate eating experience. The aging process allows the muscle fibers to relax and the juices of the meat to be absorbed into the meat, enhancing the flavor and tenderness. Though the dry-aging process is more costly due to the 20% shrinkage and trimming, we are committed to producing a superb piece of meat for consumption. Our meticulous process produces a beef product that we would never sell if we wouldn’t serve it to our own children and grandchildren.

Land Stewardship

At Prather Ranch, we are dedicated to sustainable land stewardship practices, implementing regenerative agriculture techniques that promote conservation and the preservation of natural resources. As a legacy heritage ranch operating on approximately 34,000 acres in five north-state counties, we understand the importance of preserving our land for future generations. That’s why we’ve encumbered over 50% of our land with a conservation easement, which ensures that our properties will always be operated as grazing land for cattle and never be subdivided. Our commitment to land stewardship allows us to make management decisions with a long-term focus, helping us to maintain the health of our land and preserve it for generations to come.
