ISO 22442-2 and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Prather Ranch is committed to providing our customers with the highest quality bovine materials. To achieve this, we comply with ISO 22442-2 guidelines, which demonstrates our adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Our employees receive thorough, documented training in the production of safe and high-quality cattle products, ensuring that we meet the highest standards of safety and quality.
Safety of the Herd and Materials
The safety of our cattle herd and the materials we produce is of paramount importance to Prather Ranch. We have established standard operating procedures (SOPs) for every aspect of our operations, from the maintenance of our closed herds to the abattoir. We take extensive precautions, including coordinating with neighboring ranches, designing and maintaining fence lines, and ensuring that our cattle herd isn’t in contact with outside livestock. Our extensive database, which contains animal information dating back to 1991, allows us to track and trace the complete history of each animal, including veterinary care. Every bone, cut of meat, and xenographic material supplied to the client can be rapidly traced in our database.
Humane Handling of Cattle
At Prather Ranch, we believe in the humane treatment of animals. We ascribe to gentle handling practices of animal behavior experts such as Dr. Temple Grandin and Bud Williams. All of our movements and facilities are oriented to the gentle, humane, and respectful treatment that our cattle receive during their lifespan. We have our own cattle truck for the transportation of the cattle herd from one ranch to the other to maintain the sanitation and biosecurity of the closed herd. Gentle handling is recognized not only for its humane attributes but also for its impact on animal stress and product quality.
