Our Closed Herd system ensures that our cattle are raised in a stress-free environment, allowing them to naturally graze on the nutrient-dense pastures. Our cattle are free-range, grass-fed, and raised without hormones, resulting in a premium product that is both healthy and humane.
Our dedication to sustainable agriculture extends to our dry-aging process, which has been largely discontinued by large processing facilities. At Prather Ranch, we believe that dry aging is an age-old practice that enhances the flavor and tenderness of the meat. Our processing facility has ample storage to hang our beef for at least 14-21 days, allowing the muscle fibers to relax and the juices of the meat to be absorbed into the meat, enhancing the flavor, and tenderizing the meat. While this process can result in up to 20% shrinkage and trimming, it is a more costly but necessary approach to producing a superb piece of meat for consumption.
